From 1935 to 1938, the Lütschetal Dam was built near the community of Frankenhain. It is a reservoir about 1,000 meters long and up to 300 meters wide, which offers wonderful walks around the lake and through the nature of the Thuringian Forest. At that time still intended as a supplier of lime-warm water for the Reichsbahn, it is today an equally beautiful and idyllic destination for excursions.
