The Oberhof holiday region
Welcome to the Oberhof holiday region. Centrally located in the middle of Germany, you will find one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Germany. The Thuringian Forest and its many facets invite you to discover and relax.
Oberhof auf der Höh', surrounded by dense forests, offers you at 820 metres altitude climatic features for which you otherwise have to travel far. A healthy forest climate, the famous sports venues with 365 days of snow a year and over 100 years of tourist tradition with all its facets offer unique moments. Zella-Mehlis, the industrial and trading town, surprises with sharks, experiments and some technical finesse of the time around 1900. Corkscrews were invented in Steinbach-Hallenberg and are still made in show demonstrations. Germany's best-known biathlete, Kati Wilhelm, now pampers her guests in the "Heimatlon".
From the Thüringeti to the summit
Visit the Thüringeti in the tranquil village of Crawinkel or marvel at the old art of brewing and the Ohratalsperre in Luisenthal.
Experience pure deceleration in Frankenhain at the Lütschetalsperre. Breathtaking views await you on the roof of Thuringia, in Gehlberg. The town is surrounded by the five highest mountains in the Free State, first and foremost the Schneekopf with its 1,000 metres. Along the summit hiking trail you will reach Goldlauter-Heidersbach, on the edge of Thuringia's most nature-rich town and the UNESCO biosphere reserve Vessertal.
