Beschreibung
You start in the center of Oberhof in the direction of the Sporthotel. At the Harzwald you get on the hiking trail in the direction of Grenzadler, first follow the signpost with the green bar. This hike leads you magically through the Thuringian Forest. Listen to the voices of the forest and take a deep breath. The scent of the forest will enchant you and you will gradually realize how good the forest does you.
We recommend the first stop at the Schützenbergmoor. Learn more about the important raised bogs of the Thuringian Forest here.
Continue your hike in the direction of the Violet Fountain. This typical Thuringian spring fountain is a popular photo motif. Feet cooling included. Here you can plan a small stop in the excursion restaurant of the same name. (To do this, briefly leave the hiking trail to the left). From the Veilchenbrunnen, follow the signpost "Gelbes R" and the signs in the direction of the ski jumps at Kanzlersgrund.
Arriving at the ski jumps at Kanzlersgrund, the view widens and you enjoy the view over the Thuringian Forest. Stop and let your gaze wander. The imposing ski jumps tower impressively above the tops of the forest. Perhaps you have just arrived during a competition or training? Watch the daring young ski jumping talents and competitive athletes. Soft knees guaranteed.
From the ski jumps, your hike will take you in the direction of Grenzadler Oberhof. Follow the yellow R, the so-called Rennsteig ladder. At the Grenzadler, you have the option of shortening the loop by bus.
Your way leads you from here along the Tambacher Straße in the direction of Oberhof Mitte, along the well-known Oberhof sports facilities. The Arena am Rennsteig makes the beginning here, followed by the Skisport-Halle. The Fallbach slope is an intermezzo for recreational sports, in winter the alpine fans and in summer the downhill bikers. You could also take the chairlift down here and continue your hike from there. But for this you have to know, it goes up the mountain again ;-) If you stay on the Tambacher Straße, after the Fallbach slope, the racing sled & bobsleigh run follows. It is the end of the impressive sports facilities.
Follow the road further towards the center, at the next bend turn left towards "Lochbrunnen" and follow the road towards Oberhof. Alternatively, you can always follow the road straight back to the town square.
