Beschreibung
The LOTTO Thüringen Skisport-HALLE Oberhof is the only indoor ski hall in Germany where Nordic winter sports can be practised. The ski hall's motto "Winter. Whenever you want!" should be taken literally. Visitors, recreational athletes and top athletes will find the best winter conditions even when it's 30 degrees in the shade, in addition to cooling off.
Perfect cross-country skiing conditions and optimal training opportunities
On an area of 10,000 m², there is an almost two-kilometre-long circular course, which, with ascents and descents of up to 12 percent, does not allow for boredom and also challenges passionate cross-country skiers. The course is divided into a fast loop (264 m), a north-east loop (380 m) and a west loop (1110 m).
This results in a total running length of 1,754 m. The difference in altitude is approx. 13.75 m and the total of all ascents is 24.17 m. The hall has a width of 8 m. On a track length of approx. 60 m, the halls run parallel and are joined together to form a "double track". The snow depot hall is located between the north-east loop and the fast power loop.
Four snow-making machines in the hall ensure year-round snow reliability, constant air temperatures of -3°C to -4°C and humidity between 80% and 100%. The best conditions for winter fun in summer.
If you have no experience on the boards that mean the world to you, you can book a ski course directly at the LOTTO Thüringen Skisport-HALLE Oberhof. The on-site ski hire shop will be happy to provide you with the necessary equipment and give you tips and information for cross-country skiing.
The visitors' balcony offers you the best views of what's happening in the indoor ski hall, where you can see not only recreational athletes but also the odd top athlete training during training times.

The construction
Goldbeck completed the LOTTO Thüringen Skisport-HALLE Oberhof in a very short construction time of only 14 months. The construction costs amounted to almost 14 million euros, which were borne in equal parts by the federal government and the state. State-of-the-art cooling technology with heat feedback and the latest insulation materials were used to keep energy consumption as low as possible. The overall cooling of the hall is provided by two screw compressors with a cooling capacity of 620 KW. Floor cooling is provided by cooling coils in the concrete floor using cold brine (-15 degrees Tyfocox). Air cooling is provided by 19 circulating air coolers, each with an air capacity of 10,000m³.
The hall temperature is constantly between -3 and -4 degrees, the humidity between 80 and 100%. The snow is produced by four snow guns on the ceiling in the central hall, which has an appropriate height, as the snow requires a minimum fall height of 6 to 8 metres. In the units, water and compressed air are atomised and blown out through fine nozzles at -22 degrees under high pressure. The height of fall creates the snow crystals. By regulating the amount of water and air, as well as the air temperature, the quality of the snow can be changed (light and dry or wet and heavy).
For the active athletes, there is a large changing room with integrated changing cubicles, two separate shower rooms and over 150 lockers. Valuables can be locked there for a €1 key deposit.
Shooting hall
In 2011, a further hall wing was put into operation, in which four shooting ranges for small bore and air rifle are integrated. The addition of this new shooting hall has created the world's first biathlon hall, which can be used all year round for both competitive and amateur sports. It is also possible to use the shooting hall separately, so that you do not necessarily have to get on your skis to shoot.
