Beschreibung
Gentle hills of volcanic origin, vast meadows on long ridges, alternate with romantic valleys and shady dark forests. The start of the Rhön-Rennsteig hiking trail is the Wasserkuppe (950m above sea level) in Hesse. Your path will take you past Heidelstein, the Red and Black Moors, through the highest elevations of the Rhön. Arrived in Thuringia, the Geba (751m) and the Dolmar (739m), which are rich in views, await the hiker with grandiose vistas. Here the hiker now leaves the Rhön - the "land of open distances" and enters the Thuringian Forest. The path awaits with fantastic views, e.g. at the 866m high Ruppberg and the rock at the 897m high Gebrannten Stein. The destination of the hike is the Rennsteig and the widely known winter sports resort Oberhof.
