Description
Sporting challenge with a view.
The Bärenstein, for example, offers a beautiful view of the lower-lying Oberhof train station and the Lubenbach valley. In contrast, the gravelled raft ditch leading to the Suhler Ausspanne has a 10 percent gradient. "Relax", take your time, recharge your batteries - enjoy secluded spots, treat yourself to a stop at the Schneidersgrund mountain hut, which is open on weekends. From there, the trail climbs steeply to the Spitziger Berg. The summit (882 m) is worth a detour.
Back the route leads once again past the Wills graves and the Sommerbacher Pirschhaus, back to the Suhler Ausspanne. Then continue on the Rennsteig in the direction of Oberhof. A small detour to the forester's lodge Sattelbach offers the opportunity for a leisurely gourmet break.
If you still have enough power, it's worth making a detour to the Rennsteig Garden Oberhof at the end of the loop (from May to October).
Safety information
Attention, partly slippery-steep sections. Beware of tree breakage after storms.
