Your Oberhof
I transferred to the sports school in Oberhof when I was 13 and this paved the way for incredible opportunities. My life was taken in the best direction I could imagine. Everything I was able to build would have been unthinkable in my case without Oberhof.
What was your sporting career like?
As a child, I emulated my big sister and went to cross-country skiing training for the first time at the age of 6.
In 1989, all the girls in my hometown became biathletes in cross-country skiing.
In 1991, at the age of 13, I transferred to the Oberhof sports school.
1994 was my first of four participations in junior world championships.
1997, at the age of 17, was my first World Cup race in Lillehammer.
From December 1998, I was a member of the women's national biathlon team for 16 years.
I took part in 12 World Championships and four Olympic Games.
My career ended in 2014 in Oslo (36 years).

Who are your role models?
People who see difficult times as a challenge instead of an obstacle.
What was the most emotional moment of your sporting career?
The victory ceremony of the 2007 World Championships mass start in Antholz with gold, silver and bronze (Henkel, Glagow, Wilhelm) for Germany.
It was an incredible atmosphere, the anthem played for everyone and thousands of fans sang for us! I was also very moved that many of my "old team" came to Oslo for my last World Cup weekend.
What was the biggest sporting disappointment for you?
The 2014 Olympic Games in Soschi - first sick, then shocked.
What are your goals for the future?
To support many people in leading a healthy life.
