Your Oberhof
Important foundations of my career were laid here in Oberhof. Attended the sports high school from 1990-1995, then member of the Oberhof sports support group with training at the Oberhof base until 2004. Since 2013, organisation of my junior camp for young biathletes in Oberhof.
What was your sporting career like?
- From 1983 cross-country skiing training at the Steinbach-Hallenberg training centre
- 1990 change to the sports high school Oberhof
- since 1991 DSV junior cross-country squad
- since 1996 World Cup team cross-country skiing
- 1997 World Cup participation Trondheim
- 1998 Olympia Nagano 5th place in the relay team
- 1999 World Championships Ramsau
- afterwards change to biathlon
- 2000 3rd place EM
- from 2004 Ruhpolding new training location
- 2010 career end after the season
What was the most emotional moment of your sporting career?
The Olympic victory in Turin 2006.
What was the biggest sporting disappointment for you?
The bad results at the home World Championships in Oberhof 2004.
What are your goals for the future?
I don't have to achieve so much anymore, but I want to be a good mother to my children, spend a lot of time with them and pass on some of my positive qualities to them.
... because Oberhof is an important part of my sporting development, offers 1 A training conditions and you don't sweat so much in summer ;-)
