Since then I have been working for the Federal Police (as of 2018).

Your Oberhof

Oberhof is my home. I come from here and I am an Oberhof child. I spent my childhood, youth and large parts of my adult life here, trained and lived in Oberhof in all weathers. I still enjoy the landscape and surroundings of the place today.

What was your athletic career like?

  • First contact with cross-country skiing at the age of 3.
  • Beginning with cross-country skiing training and first competitions from 1986.
  • Sports high school Oberhof from 1992 and change to biathlon in 1993.
  • First squad status in 1997 - C squad biathlon.
  • Participation in international junior competitions from 1997.
  • 1998 graduation from high school and employment in the competitive sports team of the Federal Police.
  • Completion of training with the Federal Police in 2002.
  • Member of the biathlon world cup team and participation in international competitions from 2001-2012.

Who are your idols?

Gerhard Grimmer - having read the book "The White Trail" as a child, and Matthias Jacob.
 

What was the most emotional moment of your sports career?

Winning the gold medal at the World Championships in Östersund 2008.
 

What was the biggest sporting disappointment for you?

That unfortunately I never managed to participate in the Olympic Games. Every athlete dreams of that.
 

What are your goals for the future?

Enjoying every day with my family and especially my daughter.
