Your Oberhof
I have been in Oberhof since 1977. I never imagined that this would become the centre of my life. Sport connected me to Oberhof. The view for this great place came only in the course of time. I am very interested in the further development of Oberhof in terms of tourism and sport, and I would like to make my contribution.
What was your sporting career like?
From 1973 to 1976 I was a decathlete at SC Turbine Erfurt.
Since 1977 - bobsleighing in Oberhof.
From 1975 to 1980 - sports studies at the DHFK in Leipzig - graduated as a sports teacher.
1988 - end of active career.
Since 1989 I have been a bobsleigh coach at the Oberhof base for Andre Lange and Maximilian Arndt, among others.
What was the most emotional moment of your sporting career?
Both titles, especially since they were won on Italian tracks. At that time, these natural tracks were considered the most difficult in the world, as they were fast, demanding and difficult to master. And the double Olympic victory of Andre Lange and team.
What are your goals for the future?
In the two years as an active coach, to train the young talents in such a way that Oberhof will have Olympic starters in the men's field again in the future. To stay healthy and fit. Spending a few more good years with my family. We like to travel to the Baltic Sea together.
