I have been in Oberhof since 1965 and am very connected to the town, its sports facilities and the beautiful nature through my work in luge and bobsleigh.

What was the most emotional moment of your sporting career?
As an athlete - The 1972 Olympic victory in Sapporo.
As a coach - Meinhard Nehmer winning both gold medals in 1976 and Sean Olsson winning an Olympic bronze medal for GBR in Nagano 1998.
What was the biggest sporting disappointment for you?
My unjust disqualification from the 1967 World Championships in Hammarstrand.
What are your goals for the future?
To stay healthy and enjoy a few more years with my family and grandchildren.
