Your Oberhof
I associate Oberhof with the wonderful sporting facilities and the beautiful memories of my stay and I met my wife in Oberhof.

What was your sporting career like?
In October 1963, I was delegated to SC-Traktor Oberwiesenthal from Ilsenburg;
There I became German Junior Champion in doubles twice (1965 with Gerhard Vater and 1964 with Horst Hörnlein);
1965 Junior European Championship gold medal with Gerhard Vater in doubles in Karpacz;
1969/1971/1972 GDR Champion in doubles with Horst Hörnlein;
1968 participation in the Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble with 5th place in doubles with Horst Hörnlein;
In 1969 I changed to ASK Oberhof, where I achieved my greatest sporting successes, participation in the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo and winning the gold medal in doubles with Horst Hörnlein.
Who are your role models?
Helmut Recknagel and Täve Schur.
What was the most emotional moment of your sporting career?
The Olympic victory in Sapporo in 1972.
What was the biggest sporting disappointment for you?
The disqualification of Horst Hörnlein for the 1967 World Championships in Hammarstrand and thus also the unjust disqualification for our doubles competition.
What are your goals for the future?
To remain healthy and actively participate in life through light, targeted sporting activity.
... because I was able to spend many wonderful years there.
