Your Oberhof
Oberhof is my home, this is where I grew up. From birth through kindergarten, school, KJS, my first own flat and Bundeswehr sports support group. Here I had optimal training conditions and learned to love the Oberhof weather :-).

What was your sporting career like?
I was at the cross-country skiing training centre from my first year at school.
1982-1986 I was at the KJS Oberhof.
From 1992, after a trial run, skeleton racer as a hobby.
Then came the first successes and when I was nominated for the national team, Erich Enders put the training on the right track.
I became Thuringian Champion, German Champion, World Champion and overall World Cup winner.
Who are your role models?
Gerhard Grimmer
What was the most emotional moment of your sporting career?
When the national anthem was played for me at my first World Cup victory.
What was the biggest sporting disappointment for you?
Not being there when skeleton was reinstated in the Olympic programme in Salt Lake City in 2002.
What are your goals for the future?
To stay healthy and to cope with life with joy.
... because Oberhof has a long winter sports tradition and tries to preserve and maintain it.
